Sparta Small Tire Shootout Fall Event a HUGE Success!

Our Sparta Small Tire Shootout Fall event was a HUGE success! We were plagued all week by a bad weather forecast, and up until the last minute racers and spectators were trying to make the call whether or not to attend…To those who did show up to race and spectate, you are what MADE THIS EVENT!!! With 4 cars in Outlaw and 19 in Street King, it is pretty obvious that our die hard racers don’t let rain scare them away! We had a few bad bouts of weather, but for the most part Mother Nature cooperated and the cool air and fantastic track surface had racers setting new personal bests all day! (I lost count of people who told me they set PB’s!). So again, BIG THANK YOU to the racers and spectators who braved the weather and came out from all parts of Ontario (and the USA!) for some heads up grudge racing action and for supporting the event! We would also like to congratulate our winners and runner-ups! Congrats to Jeff Biro on his win in the Outlaw class as well as having the best reaction time in the class in the first round- Jeff left $575 richer after just two rounds of racing! Also, congratulations to our Outlaw runner up and sponsor of the Street King class Wajdy Khalil whose car ran awesome all day, and set some new PB’s as well! He walked away with an awesome gift certificate from Karbelt Speed and Custom Pickering and from Rynotech Lubricants. Also, big congratulations to our winner in the Street King Class Steve Toth who walked away with $1430 in prize money! Also, congratulations to Matt LaRocque for his runner up position, also walking away with a gift certificate to Karbelt Speed and Custom Pickering and Rynotech Lubricants, and Matt Searle for taking the $50 prize put up by thephotoguys.ca and Darwin Kent for best reaction time in the first round of eliminations!I would like to thank EVERYONE involved in making this event happen! Big shout out to our sponsors- Wajdy of WK Performance, Mike and Veronica Seguin of thephotoguys.ca and Darwin Kent, Brad Goldring and the rest of the 5252rpm.com crew, Jim McHarg of Wildside High Performance Motorsports Graphics, Tom Henderson of Henny’s Custom Machining, Kevin Dundas and the guys at Karbelt Speed and Custom Pickering, Ian Hill of Dilts Piston and Hydraulics, and Ken Handsaeme of Rynotech Lubricants! Without the support from our sponsors, this event would not have been possible! We appreciate all that you have done for the event and hope to have you back on board in the future!Big shout out to the St. Thomas track crew as well! Jay and Michelle run an AWESOME race track and always do their best to make the racing go as fast and smooth as possible! They were on top of getting the track dried up more than once, and cleaning up all the nasty messes we had throughout the day to get the racing done as fast as possible before the rain set in again! Thanks to Jay, Michelle, Jim, Jon, Chris, Bubba, Brandon, and anyone else I might be missing! You guys were awesome and are the reason why we choose to hold this race at St. Thomas and nowhere else!Lastly, HUGE shoutout to my crew yesterday for all their help in running the event- without them, I would not be able to have things run the way they do…Everyone that was in a red hoodie- Stu and John for working the staging lanes all day, pairing up cars and getting them ready to go; Spencer and my Dad Gino for getting the cars teched in and working run orders in the tower; Darren Brown for his MC’ing and setting up some grudge callouts; Mike Graham for helping things run smooth; and our lovely shirt ladies Stefana and Christina for getting you into some lovely SSTS event swag! Without these individuals, the entire event would not have been possible, so thank you again!I had a great time, and I think a lot of the racers did too! I am doing my best to put on a race that racers enjoy, so I invite any feedback you might have about your experience…It is a constant learning experience for me, and I am already going back to the drawing board to make some more changes and tweaks for next year so that I can try to deliver an even better event next time…See everybody in 2015 for some more heads up, clocks off, small tire racing!Matthew TamburroSSTS event organizer
